Hinders Sports Bar & Grill

Hinders is a sports bar located in Tipp City, just north of Dayton. It's a typical dive bar serving wings, burgers, brews, and more!

These wings are some of my favorite ever! The sauces are so delicious and have hilarious names. The butt warmer wings are my favorite! The sauce is sweet with a bit of a kick to it. I'm not exactly sure what it is but I've never had a sauce like it anywhere else! My husband and I love to split a side of fries with cheese sauce to go along with our wings. I look forward to it every time I visit my husbands family in Tipp City.

The restaurant itself is large and has a small outdoor patio behind it. There's a regular seating area and a bar area. Usually our group is too big to sit at the bar but I love to sit there when I can. They have TVs all around the bar/restaurant and the staff is really great about turning the channel to the game you'd like to watch.

I've had so many great experiences here and look forward to the next time I can get some butt warmers! :)

Decent food cool local vibe. Fore a restaurant and bar that's been around as long as they have it amazes me how dysfunctional they can be. Hasn't updated the online menu with current prices or current hours along with Google or Facebook. Now closed on Mondays. Struggles with carry out times as well either it's done way before they tell you or you sit there and wait twice as long.

Friend brought me here to try their chicken wings, claiming their 'buttwarmers' sauce was the best I'd ever try.

Oh man, these chicken wings are CRISPY on the outside and very JUICY on the inside!! They're actually VERY DELICIOUS. They're not too small either.

- Buttwarmers Sauce 5/5
These wings are on the tangier side. They're supposed to be sweet and spicy? Sweeter than spicier. They're pretty good.

- Asskickers Sauce 1/5
This sauce tastes like a Buttered Buffalo sauce with LOTS of salt. It's VERY salty. VERY VERY salty.

- Mozzarella sticks 5/5
Standard mozzarella sticks with a side of marinara sauce. Comes with 4 pieces. Cheese pull!!

The service is friendly.. the lady working would talk in a regular face not smiling then at the end smile big. It was kind of weird.

Parking is free, place is small. Noone where's masks in Ohio.....

Love they're Tenderloins!!! My husband is from Tipp City. We come up there every year.

Crowded but very efficient service with cold draft beer and Rueben sandwich with onion rings was splendid.
I'll come back for sure.

Parking: Good luck; parking is terrible. The parking lot in front is limited in spaces, parking lot in rear is poorly marked and poorly maintained. Beware patrons creating spaces where there once were parking but now it's supposed to be a driveway from the front to the rear.


I want to hate this place.
I kind of do hate this place.
It's not well-maintained, it's not clean. It's as if someone decided to turn their home into a restaurant and just kept adding rooms at slightly different levels because they wanted more space.
It's popular though - busy any time I've driven by so they must be doing something right.
The menu is not extensive - but if you're looking for good chicken wings, this is a good choice.
I would recommend ordering takeout, though.

I like the wings.
Substantial size. Not too big, not too small. I would have liked them to be cooked a touch longer to crisp up the skin - but they are good.
There are four sauce options:
Easy Sitting (mild), Butt Warmer (tangy) , Ass Kickers (if you have the courage), BBQ.

I was informed the best are the "butt warmer" and found placing an order for "25 butt warmers, for pick up" even more entertaining than spotting a $3 grilled cheese sandwich on the menu.
The "butt warmer" (tangy) sauce is really good.
Note it is not attempting to be "medium" (it's not - it's mild) - it's "tangy".
It succeeds.
You realize you're addicted to it by the third wing.

My only criticism about the wings is they could be crispier. Just 30 more seconds in the fryer would result in a superior product. The wings were a bit fatty still - the skin was just slightly undercooked and not completely crisp. The meat is cooked well, though - and that sauce ... delicious.
Granted, taking them "to go" de-crisps them a bit so this would be the main (possibly only) benefit to eating "in".

Why only 2 stars?
This rating is a combination of the food and the location.
The food is a solid 3 stars but the location is 1 star.

This was a bar and grill that I found on my recent day trip to Tipp City Ohio. This is more than a little a sketchy looking on the outside and has some rough looking spots on the inside so be aware of that. The place was super busy as it was on a Saturday with college basketball going on so naturally the small bar was going to be busy. Once we got a seat we tried out some their food. We got a "Hinder's Sampler" which was an appetizer sampler of sorts. It included mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, potato skins with cheddar and bacon bits, and lastly cheddar armadillo legs. The mozzarella sticks were good (the marinara sauce was spectacular!) as were the chicken strips. The potato skins were middle of the road and the armadillo legs were basically jalapeño poppers (not really sure why they named them something else). For my main course I tried their Chicken Wings with "Ass Kicker" sauce which was there hottest one. I would put this in my top 5 best flavours of wing sauces that I've ever tried. Lots of spice and lots of flavour made me a happy fellow. I also got some onion rings which were good but were begging for a dipping sauce. The food took a really long time to be cooked but it was extremely busy and it was clear that it was a bar first and restaurant second. Even with that being said the food was excellent especially the wings so despite the rather dodgy surroundings I have to mostly recommend it based on the food (none of us drank so we can't rate the bar part).

Love the food -buttwarmer wings are the best-we pair it with cheese cubes! Service is usually good-had a few negative encounters in the past- but we are trying to stay open minded and consider perhaps they were having an off day :)

Wow guys! You rock! I have not been to Hinders in years as I left the area 10 years ago. The wings still are awesome.! You folks have upgraded to good beer.. Bells two Hearted! The best ipa with wings.

When in town will always stop buy for a pint and wings.
